Reflection Symmetry
Lesson SequenceLesson 1:
- Use this activity as an extension for the unit Colors, Shapes, and Symmetry. Start by reviewing symmetry examples from the unit.
- Explain that reflection symmetry is also called line symmetry because the line is the separation between the reflected images.
- Distribute a sheet of paper with a fold line along its center, some glue, and several pairs of yarn strands.
- Glue symmetrical designs made from yarn pairs onto one half of the paper and create a mirror image on the other half of the paper. Share completed works.
