Habitats and Homes

In this 15-lesson unit, Kindergarten and First Grade students discover that scientists and artists observe the world around them, record what they see, and share those observations with the world. Students become artists and scientists as they view the world of nature. Through their scientist eyes, they used words, numbers, and pictures. Through their artist eyes, they use the elements of art as well as their feelings and memories. Students observe and record textures and environments in nature as they explore the art of Bill Traylor and Joseph Cornell.
