Summary
Observe and sketch outside view. Develop definition of texture. Create texture rubbings.
Lesson Sequence Lesson 1: Sketch what is observed out the window. Discuss sketches in terms of colors, lines, shapes, textures, memories and feelings.
Lesson 2: Introduce textures with The Texture Song. Develop a definition of texture. Manipulate blank pieces of paper to represent textures from The Texture Song.
Lesson 3: Read a book with interesting texture illustrations, such as The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Discuss textures and create rubbings.
