finalizing Illinois map through painting, critical revison and placement

Summary Research local geography. Plan, map sculpt and install features.

Lesson Sequence lesson 9: View “The Powers of Ten” video. Review road and county maps of Illinois.

lesson 10: View Metropolis II by Chris Burden. Strategize construction and storage of collective map. Agree upon overall elements of map. Divide into groups, each responsible for a portion of the map.

lessons 11-12:View work of Bodys Isek Kingelez. Work in groups to attach labels to section of map. Connect sections of map from groups.

lesson 13: View work of Romare Bearden. Attach sculptures and illustrations to map. Share between groups and revise.

lesson 14: Reflect on the process used to create map. Discuss how to present. Practice presentation.

lesson 15: Present map of Illinois to chosen audience.
